In 1933 Bernhard Stoewer built a prototype, 2 litre V8 cabriolet.  This was road tested in Italy in June and won 1st prize  in the Concourse d'Elegance in Baden Baden in July.  The production version of this car was introduced as the Grief V8 in 1934 with an enlarged, 2,489 cc engine.
