C1  (1913)

This C1 was purchased new in Australia on December 1st, 1913 by De Garis, Sons and Co.,  Stock and Station Agents in Penola, South Australia.   Many years later it was recovered, from rotting under a tree near Penola by R K Wright of Kurralta Park, Adelaide. In 1968, Reg McDonald obtained it from R K Wright and during the next 25 years performed a very thorough restoration.  The rear section of the body was beyond repair and was reconstructed out of wood using photos of another C1.  Mudguards were also re-fabricated using the original ones as a pattern.  After Reg passed away in 2003 his daughter cared for the car until deciding to pass it on the the present owner in 2008.

A call to DeGaris, Sons and Co in 2010 enabled the present owner to make contact with the grandson of the original purchaser of this car.
