In a bold move considering the difficult economic situation and increasing fuel prices in Germany in 1928, Stoewer, together with Horsch, were the first to introduce an 8-cylinder car to the German market.  In fact, in 1928 Stoewer introduced four different models each having a straight-8 engine of different size. The G15 was the largest of these four options and its production continued the longest. These engines were all designed by Bernhard Stoewer in cooperation with Fritz Fiedler who also assisted Horch in developing his 8-cylinder engine and who later was responsible for the famous BMW 328 sports car.
