The Herkomer Rally of 1905 was established by Hubert von Herkomer for the purpose of testing the endurance and reliability of motor vehicles.  The 1905 rally was of 937 km length, starting and finishing in Munich.  Stoewer built a special car for this first Herkomer rally and this then became their model P4I.
